When it comes to choosing your Hypnotherapist, there are many factors to be taken into consideration. What qualifications do they have? Have they undergone thorough training in both the practical and theoretical aspects of Hypnotherapy? What other skills do they have? Will they understand my problem if it is associated with a medical condition or if it is a psychological issue?

I hope the following will reassure you a little before you call and speak to me or we meet.

My name is Shonagh Terry and I am a fully qualified Hypnotherapist, having attained an HPD (Hypnotherapy Practitioners Diploma) from the highly respected UK Academy of Therapeutic Arts & Sciences. This has enabled me become a member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), who are the main regulatory body for Hypnotherapists in the UK, the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), the Scottish Hypnotherapy Foundation (SHF) and be accepted by the NHSTA which holds the Directory of Complementary and Alternative Practitioners. I am therefore bound by the codes of ethics and practise of these various regulating authorities.
In my Hypnotherapy work, I have built on my other skills in Counselling, which I have used in both a formal and informal basis almost daily for many years. I have attainted the level of Fellow of the Institute of Personnel and Development (FCIPD), with an in depth knowledge of Training and Human Resources. This helps me understand a wide spectrum of life and business stresses. I can empathise, and offer practical scenarios in both your hypnotherapy intervention and exercises for you to do yourself. As I previously spent over 20 years in a medically associated profession before going into Management, I have a good grounding in medical conditions and terminology. I have also added to my basic skills by taking a qualification in HypnoBirthing, Pain Management, Post Traumatic Stress Conditions (EMI+) and am cleared (Disclosure Scotland) and qualified to work with children.
In short, a wealth of experience is being offered to you – to enable and support you to achieve your goals, whatever they may be, in the most comfortable and enjoyable way possible.
